Quarantine house portraits in Memphis. Can you spot the Worlds Away piece?

May 11th 2020

Some of you may not know, but Worlds Away is headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee, and our fair city has gotten a lot of attention lately thanks to local photographer Jamie Harmon of Amurica Photo. As a photographer working in the socially distanced climate during COVID-19, Harmon faced the challenge head on and started offering quarantine portraits where he takes pictures of clients from behind doors and windows, or far away on their porches and stoops. I have followed Harmon's work for years, and seen his popular Amurica photobooth at events all over town.

This canned ham style trailer looks unassuming - although interesting - from the outside, but on the inside it is filled with lights, colorful images, and props to encourage fun and unique photos.

While scrolling through Harmon's Instagram feed looking at the most recent quarantine portraits, I came across one that features our ZIA  chandelier! The ZIA is currently available in five finishes, and is shown here in gold leaf. Something tells me that front room isn't always set up as a gym with that fancy light fixture, but I love that the juxtaposition lends itself to a story like so many of Harmon's portraits.

If you're interested in learning more about Harmon's work, you can see the piece CBS Sunday Morning aired in April, or read the local article from the Memphis Flyer. Thank you for all you do for Memphis, Jamie!
