Carnival King and Worlds Away Co-founder Honoring Memphis

Jun 7th 2019

King Bob Berry kicked off his busy week spreading cheer and raising money for charity with a rigorous schedule of visiting after school programs, retirement homes, hospitals, and city and county officials. He and Queen Catherine have passed out dubloons and medals, given hugs and shaken hands, and brought fun and excitement to all they have encountered. The ever popular Boll Weevils have been with them being their usual selves: riding scooters that belong to the residents of Brookdale Senior Living to get a laugh, dancing with speakers strapped to their backs at Knowledge Quest, and letting children dress up in their capes at Perea Elementary. There were too many smiles to count, and the impact was felt far and wide.

As the week continued, the Carnival Royalty, members of the Grand Krewe, Boll Weevils and representatives of three local Memphis charities all gathered at the Neighborhood Christian Center to present a contribution check to the Children’s Charity Initiative. The fundraising efforts of Carnival Memphis feature three charities each year with this year’s proceeds benefiting Palmer Home for Children, Neighborhood Christian Center Inc., and Porter-Leath. King Bob and Queen Catherine were honored to announce this year's fundraising efforts culminating to $400,000 of which will directly support the three chosen agencies.

Hip! Hip! Hooray!
